1. /multitask: Parallel Agent Execution

This is the feature that’s gotten the most developer attention.

Cursor decomposes the request into independent subtasks and launches multiple async subagents in parallel — not in a queue. For large refactors, cross-module changes, or simultaneous documentation updates, real-world speedups are significant.

You can also click “Build in Parallel” from the plan view to have Cursor identify independent parts of a plan and execute them concurrently.

2. Agent Tabs: Side-by-Side Conversations

Cursor 3 adds Agent Tabs — multiple chat windows displayed side-by-side or in a grid, similar to browser tabs. You can monitor three agents simultaneously, intervene in any of them, and switch context without closing and reopening windows.

3. Design Mode (Cmd+Shift+D)

Cursor 3 ships with a built-in browser preview panel. With Design Mode active, you can circle UI elements directly in the browser preview and annotate your intent (“Change this button to red”). The agent reads your annotation and targets the corresponding code directly.

4. 30+ Plugin Marketplace

Cursor 3 launched a plugin marketplace with 30+ official integrations from Atlassian, Datadog, GitLab, Hugging Face, and others. Agents can call these integrations natively — for example, “link this bug to a Jira ticket” or “look up the P99 latency for this function in Datadog.”

5. Multi-LLM Comparison

A single shortcut now lets you send the same prompt to multiple models simultaneously and compare outputs side by side. Useful for quickly deciding whether Claude Sonnet or GPT-5.5 handles a particular task better before committing to a full agent run.

6. Multi-Repo + Worktree Support

Agent sessions in Cursor 3 can span multiple repositories. You can configure a workspace containing a frontend repo, a backend repo, and a shared library, and an agent will make changes across all three without needing to retarget between them.

Worktree support was also redesigned: the old dropdown UI is deprecated, replaced by /worktree and /best-of-n commands. /best-of-n runs the same task across multiple worktrees and surfaces the best result.


May 13 Update: Cloud Agent Environments

About six weeks after the Cursor 3 launch, the May 13 update added Cloud Agent Environments — targeting teams and enterprise users.

  • Try /multitask — convert long, step-by-step prompts into a single “here’s the goal” instruction
  • Open the Agents Window and get comfortable with the parallel agent view
